Status Update: The Books Are In The Oven

02 December 2013 by Joey Cofone

Production has begun! We’ve spent the better part of 2013 designing and funding the first Baron Fig notebook— now it’s finally time to make it a reality.

We’ve spoken to hundreds of thinkers, designed dozens of prototypes, and Kickstarted Baron Fig to an incredible degree.  Our books—designed with an underlying philosophy of simplicity, usefulness & community—are now being made as we type this.

Manufacturing

The simple tool that we’ve created alongside an amazing global community of thinkers is finally underway. They're set to be fully produced within a few weeks, and we'll be able to start shipping soon after. We’re right on track to send 8,760 books to 4,242 Kickstarter backers from 48 countries in January. It's time to get out your favorite pens and sharpen those pencils.

Important: Backers, if you haven’t already filled out our Kickstarter survey, make sure you do—without it we can’t deliver your order. (Protip: if you haven’t received a survey, check your spam folder, as Kickstarter doesn’t give us control in resending them.)

In the Meantime

Our top priority is getting our backers’ books in the mail on time. While they’re being manufactured we’re preparing in-house to make sure we can get them out as soon as they’re ready. This includes shipping materials, postal agreements, and warehouse space. Our goal from the beginning has been to get the books in the mail by January—and we’re working hard to hit that goal.

Note: Over the last few days we’ve given the site a minor facelift, if you haven’t seen it recently then head on over to our homepage to see the new design.

The Community

When we say that Baron Fig is based on community—we mean it. From the start we’ve been talking with the very thinkers who will use our books. They’ve directly affected everything about them, from the packaging to the outside cover, the amount of branding to the inner paper types (blank, ruled, and dot grid), and so on.

We invite you to join up in this discussion on twitter, where you can message us at any time; on facebook, where you can give direct feedback on updates; and through email, where you can pour your hearts out with as many characters as you deem necessary

Whichever route you choose, just know that we answer every message. We can’t wait to hear from you—and absolutely can't wait to get these books out into the wild.
